This is me freaking out because I am right next to the stage at Taylor Swift’s concert on April 10, 2013.

Music is magical. It has a way of making you feel as if you’re not alone, and the perfect song can describe how you are feeling better than you could have said it yourself.

My name is Aileen Mack. I am currently an exploratory major at the University of Florida, and I love words, music and concerts.

At roughly the age of nine, I started to be interested in music, and for my birthday, I got my first CD, which was Hilary Duff’s “Metamorphosis,” and a CD player. From that point, I became interested in music through Disney Channel, and then I discovered other artists (who were not associated with a mouse).

In my iTunes, I have over five days worth of music from different genres. Although a decent portion is pop music,  my music taste spans from alternative (Mayday Parade) to country (Taylor Swift) to nerdy songs about Harry Potter (Hank Green). I will listen to anything at least once before I decide that it is not my taste.

As of today, I have attended 17 concerts, and my first one was Demi Lovato on Aug. 1, 2009. On that night, I fell in love with the way that concerts make you forget your worries and let you just enjoy the music.

As you can see, one of my favorite things happens to be music so I am hoping this blog will intensify my interest and keep me and you up to date on concerts in Gainesville. Perhaps this blog can help you realize, if you have not already, the beauty of music and how much access you have to it.
